Travels On The Roof Of The World - The Cultures and Mountains of the Tibetan Plateau

Tibet: a secretive Kingdom on the roof of the world. Closed to foreign visitors until the mid-1980’s, this is the home of monks and monasteries, yaks and yetis, the towering peaks of the mighty Himalaya, and a traditional Buddhist culture.

The presentation follows the journey along the Friendship Highway from Kathmandu in Nepal across the high passes to the mystical city of Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. With detours to small villages and ancient historic sites, there is also an in-depth look at the current political realities of Tibet’s relationship with China.
